Uncle GUSSY’S Greek Gyro NYC. #Gyro #GreekFood #Döner
We all know Turks and Greeks are known for their gyro/döner. Just for curiosity, I googled for the best Greek gyro in NYC, Uncle Gussy’s Greek gyro popped up and it was a food truck joint on PARK AVE. Street food style. that made me interested more because I love street style gyro even though I like fancy places. I wanted to check it out and see it myself. When I got there, it was around noon time and there was no line. I ordered a regular beef/lamb gyro with some lettuce, tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce-aka thick yogurt with some herbs. First of all, I have say it was a messy sandwich. I like my pita bread thin, thick Greek style pita bread is not my type. Thicker the bread, the messier it gets. So…I really like the tzatziki sauce. It gave an good edge over the meat. I wasn’t sure if the meat was freshly made or frozen but it was ok. After 2-3 bites I thought I liked the whole combination on my taste buds as a sandwich. It was juicy. It was definitely filling. Did I have better than this? Yes indeed. I give a 7.5 out of 10.
